Scott Chamberlain is the founder of Caring Man In A Van. Scott and his son started the business back in 2007. Caring Man In A Van offers personal care transportation for you or your loved ones. Their services include ambulatory, wheelchair, or stretcher utilizing late model vehicles and trained staff. They offer you safe and clean air conditioned transportation for all local and long distance services at a reasonable rate.
Their company was founded based on the personal experiences they had with Scott's mother requiring transportation by wheelchair. He found the transportation business to really have two options for transportation: Ambulance which was very expensive and Non-Emergency Medicaid or County transportation which was very unreliable. He felt there was a better way to service the Senior and Disabled community, offering personal care and attention. Doing simple things like, being on time for appointments, providing a clean comfortable vehicle to ride in, having a driver that really cares about your well being, and with medical appointments staying with you and assisting in any way possible. This service has been well received as we have continued to develop other markets. With this positive reception and the growth of the Senior population we have decided to expand our services through a Franchise Network.

Meet our director
Leslie Hale began work in June 2013 as the first-ever executive director of Books for Keeps, after completing a Master of Public Administration from The University of Georgia. While earning her master’s degree, Leslie focused on public policy and nonprofit management, while working with the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities and Watkinsville-based Extra Special People.
Leslie spent the first part of her working life as a newspaper reporter in Naples, Florida, covering K-12 and higher education as well as state political races. Watching the policy process first-hand, in the context of an early introduction to volunteerism in her hometown of Asheville, North Carolina, pointed her toward nonprofit work. A long-standing interest in working with under-served and at-risk populations were critical factors in her journey toward taking the reins at Books for Keeps.
The David Henry Hardigree Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 1992, is located on Old Greensboro Road just .4 mile outside Watkinsville. It is a private, non-profit organization with 501(c)3 charity status. The Sanctuary was established by Ms. Vivian Ward and named in honor of her grandfather who was a life-long resident of Oconee County.
The Sanctuary is 88 acres of natural habitat, a perfect setting for outdoor education programs and a wildlife sanctuary. Amenities include restrooms, a picnic pavilion for members and guests, and a one-acre pond for fishing with a footbridge at one end.
Although not fully functional at this time, programs are being conducted which include (but not limited to): fishing, archery, nature hikes, bird watching, tree identification, firearm safety, reptiles, tree climbing, conservation, building bird houses, wildlife observation, and so much more.
